Possums.

HABITAT.

Possums live near Darwin, Perth, Adelaide, Tasmania, Brisbane, Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne, and Kangaroo island. Possums also enjoy places like forests, and places that wet or damp.

INTRODUCTION.

They're are 7 different types of possums. They are  the Pygmy, Brush-tail, striped, Glider, Honey, scaly-tailed and Ringtail possum.

FOOD/DIET

Possums are mainly plant eaters, but sometimes they eat insects, (including small lizards,) grubs, moths, birds eggs and baby birds. Possums usually spend about 4 hours every night, night feeding. Their favourite foods are young leaves, but they also eat flowers, fruits, bark, grasses, pollen, nectar, vegetables, and garden plants like rose buds.

APPEARANCE.

The weight of a normal joey is 1 gram, and the length of a normal possum is 45 cm, and their tail's length is about 35cm long.

The  brush-tail possum is about the size of a large  cat.

The scaly-tailed possum is covered with scales on two thirds of its tail.

The ring-tail possum is an agile  climber.

DID YOU KNOW.

Did you know that possums are nocturnal, they are also Omnivores, the name of the possum family is phalangerdidae.The possum is not related to the American opossum, and the possum is related to the koala family. ( which is phalangerdidae.)
