THE ANZACS

INTRODUCTION

My web page is about the ANZACS in World War I at Gallipoli in the year 1914 to 1918. It was a massive war and a lot of people died. 19,367 were wounded from the Turks shooting and bombing violently. Some joked as they were shot, "Blimey I've been torpedoed."

They even dug tunnels under the Turks' trenches.

ALL ABOUT THE ANZACS.

They fought in World War One in the year 1914-1918. Their symbol is the rising sun. The war was fought in Turkey at Gallipoli. The last ANZAC was Alec Campbell who went to war aged sixteen, thinking it was a big adventure. It was a fight between the ANZACS, Turkey and also Japan. Many men got diseases from having to live in such dirty conditions. Most soldiers got head lice and scratching their hair  made it difficult to concentrate on firing their weapons. There were very few survivors, about 53. There was a man named John Simpson Kirkpatrick who took the wounded to safety with his donkey named Duffy.
